End Panic Attacks: All That You Should Know About Panic Attacks
The common medications for the treatment of anxiety disorders fall under the categories of anti-depressants and benzodiazepines. Although, benzodiazepines have risks, they are much safer in terms of long term risks. It is seen that many patients fail to respond to medications, not because they are resistant to the drugs, but because they may not be administered properly.
The patients sometimes have not received the right medicine, at the right dose for a long enough period of time. When a person is suffering from a panic attack, the body and mind communicates to that person some things that are depressing.
During panic attacks, the person may here words like: You are all alone, No one understands, or this panic attack will last for all eternity. Most of the people who are suffering from panic attacks know that what is being communicated to them is not true, but they may just feel it to be very real. When you see some one having a panic attack, you can do a lot to help that person and end panic attacks. When you say the words I am here for you, it will help combat the isolation, which many people have been experiencing during a panic attack. These words also tell the sufferer that you are supporting him or her. When you tell the sufferer that we can do what ever you need, you are actually creating a sense of togetherness.
When you says such words to the person suffering from panic attacks, it is very comforting to them. When a person is suffering a panic attack, you must not do certain things. Never try to teach a new technique to the person who is experiencing a panic attack. If there is an urgent need to teach the new technique to the person who suffers from recurrent panic attacks, you need to teach that person the new technique when he or she is calm and normal. Anxiety disorder therapy must be done when the patient is not having a panic attack.
Breathing practices can take a very long time to practice. So, make sure that you prepare a proper schedule for the breathing practices. When you see your friend or family member under a panic attack, you must remain calm yourself and make sure that you don’t panic yourself. Also, when your friend or relative is having a panic attack, make sure not to call too many other people in the room. When you crowd in front of the person who is suffering from a panic attack, there are chances that the person’s panic attack may worsen more.
One or two persons comforting a person who is suffering from panic attack is just fine, but of there are 30 people surrounding that same person during a panic attack will be a nightmare for that person. When a person or friend is having a panic attack, make sure to listen to that person. Never try to ignore the person who is having the panic attack. Also, never talk over the person who is suffering from the panic attack.
When a person is having a panic attack, you must let them know that you care for them and you will be at their side when they need you the most. Make sure to keep an arm around the person who is suffering from the panic attack to make them feel that they are not alone. This will give them the physical evidence that they are not alone anymore. Looking into the eyes of the person suffering from a panic attack can also help.
Eye to eye contact can go a long way in expressing to the person suffering from the panic attack that you care. Now, this does no mean that you need to stare into their eyes and make them more uncomfortable. Just give a glance that will tell them that you know what the problem is and you want to help. You can try the anxiety attack medications to give immediate relief. So, keep it handy when you have a panic attack.
If you stay healthy and do regular exercises, you will not only remain fit, but you will also be in a better position to fight panic or anxiety attacks. When you do regular exercises, your body will be able to cope with the anxiety or panic attacks. It is known fact that exercises flush out the negativity of the body.
