Anxiety Attack Relief at Home
Our home is considered our last bastion for relaxation and for some peace of mind. We go to our homes after a hard days work and try to relax and just forget the things that have happened during the day. This is where we leave work behind and just concentrate on relaxing and taking a rest.
Yet what happens when our home turns from being a sanctuary to a place of danger. This can happen when we are alone and an emergency strikes like having an anxiety attack. When this happens we are left to our devices to find immediate anxiety attack relief.
We have no one to turn to for help except ourselves in these instances that is why it is important to have a presence of mind as well as some basic knowledge on what to do during these times. Because accidents do happen and we should always be prepared when this comes.
Having panic attacks or anxiety attacks are one of this instances. But exactly what happens during these attacks? Below are some physical symptoms of which a sufferer might experience one at a time or all at the same time. • A feeling of fear or doom that something bad is going to happen. This just happens instantly and without any provocation from anything or something. Usually this fear is also unfounded and the person cannot explain it rationally. You feel that you are going crazy.
• Heartbeats beating faster than normal.
• The urge to vomit, feeling lightheadedness and dizziness.
• Body begins to tremble, extremities like the hands and feet begin to sweat.
• Chest pains.
• The flushing of the face.
The above symptoms are very much similar to having a heart attack. But if you have no history of any heart condition chances are what you are feeling is a panic attack. Yet there is no need to worry. The last thing that you should in this situation is to panic. Remember the only person that you can rely on this instance is you. So you better calm yourself before it gets worse.
The first thing that you should do is to sit down in something comfortable the sofa would be perfect. Then try to calm yourself and relax. Treating anxiety disorder begins in this simple manner.
Then do some breathing exercises. Take a deep breath and hold your breath for five to seven seconds. Exhale gradually thru your mouth. Repeat the process for two or there times until you can feel yourself relax a bit. Breathing provides oxygen to your body which are lost whenever you breathe fast and when you are sweating.
Then try to control your muscles to relax also. It is important to be aware of the fact that when you are having a panic attack your muscle tends to tighten because it preparing itself for the instinctive flight ot fight reaction. Be aware that you need to calm yourself so that you can also think logically and rationally.
Then try to disassociate your thoughts from the things that cause you stress or panic. Try to force yourself to think of things that makes you happy. This can perhaps include letting yourself see your children and spouse happy and doing well or just try to think of your hobbies and how it makes you feel good just by doing it.
The important thing here is that you are forcing out of your subconscious the stressors and replacing it with positive thoughts that have a relaxing effect on you.
If you are successful in doing all this chances are you can act independently and logically. This could prevent untoward accident that might endanger your life further. If your doctor prescribed anxiety medicine then take it otherwise when things turns to normal try now to visit your doctor for proper diagnosis and prescription.
