This video describes my son and his everyday struggle. I just learnt that he has asperger's syndrome along with severe depression. He's 15. I really don't know if i have to inform him about the syndrom or when. I imagine knowing that may increase his anxiety and depression…

I am an asperger. Remember that in life, the most important thing is happiness above all and to be a good person. If you have narrow interests that make you for who you are and you love them nd they make you happy and you want to dwelve your mind to a career in that field, then that's all it counts. Each person has their own perpose in this world.Part of being a good person is accepting who you are, how can you expect anyone to acept you if you havn't even come to accepting yourself?

There's a small and excellent online depression support group called Depression Hangout that is always happy to welcome new members. it's a great place to seek and provide help and support, make new friends and even just have a laugh. (We all need that too!)

Thank you for making these videos. I was diagnosed with Aspergers at the age of 18, after a failed suicide attempt. Since that tough time, I have also been diagnoses with Social Anxiety disorder, Non-Verbal Learning disorder, and Depression. Your videos made me realize that there could be something wrong with me besides stubbornness and just being wierd. I am 21 now, and have never been happier. Anxiety is the worst feeling in the world, and it is releaving to know that I am not alone.

This video is very true with what it say in it I fell anxiety and have had depression that has to be one of the most terrifying things I have been three it lasted nearly 2 years of hell and upset but is very slowly getting better now with the help of my nan and family around me so I think this is one of the best videos I have seen on youtube about asperger.

@TomHartill : It works for me… most of the time. And I never said it was easy. Finding the right kind of people to surround you with, finding the right kind of job, running a household… None of these are easy but all of these are managable if you're taking the approach I mentioned…. and once you learn to manage your life and accept your limitations, happiness is just around the corner really…

By the way, I'm 29, Aspie and a web developer myself ;-)

This video really resonates with me. I have had severe anxiety all my life and its has really affected my ability to live a normal life.

TomHartill @ 10:07 am #

@KieranD212 – Well I have been depressed for years now, and I would rather have any alternative to depression.

TomHartill @ 10:29 am #

@OutOfTheBoxThinker – Yeah if only it were that simple.

my parents mistake me for having AS because i try to talk and make friends and my social skills are perfectly normal, but everybody seems to avoid me for some reason. this makes me so depressed everyday because i want to make friends but it seems like i have like 1. i'm perfectly fine, just the situation i'm in at school makes me really depressed

@websuspect I don't understand how you can say we're better than other people. In some respects we're better, in others we're worse. There's no way you can objectively measure these things.

For instance, going by stereotypes, I would say Aspies make better engineers but non-Aspies make better HR managers.

thisusernameistaken2 @ 1:34 pm #

I have Asperger's and I was very depressed because I hated school. I started skipping my classes and stopped doing my work. Eventually my parents were told I didn't complete the year and would have to repeat. I refused to repeat. Now I'm studying online and now I'm no longer depressed.

I know not everyone has this opportunity.. but if you're depressed and you know what's causing it, sometimes you just need to leave that environment, whatever it takes.

I got allot of what ifs and allot to discover about my mind. I hide my anxiety very well but in my mind its just ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF and doesnt stop,
